Halloween
教学思路:English learning is not only about knowledge, but
also about its culture and customs. So in this semester, we introduce kinds of
western festivals to guide students know more about life in English-speaking
countries, and help students overcome some culture shock in English learning.
In this lesson, I introduce Halloween, including its origin, time, activities
and meanings.
学习目标:1.了解狂欢节的起源,象征物,食物及相关活动。
2.通过分析狂欢节了解西方文化,促进学生人文底蕴的积淀。
教学过程:
1 Lead-in:
What kinds of western
festivals do you know? In this class, let’s come to Halloween--an
interesting and scary festival.
2. The introduction to
Halloween: Halloween is short for All Hallow Even, which is similar to
Christmas Eve. It is popular in English speaking countries. Halloween is one of
the world’s
oldest holidays, celebrated in several countries around the globe including the
USA, Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Mexico, Latin America, and Spain.
3. Introduce the origin of
Halloween
Halloween dates back to the
traditional festival of The British Celts(不列颠凯尔特人).In this night,ghost walks
around in the world.Because the night is rather dangerous, the Celts wear masks
to scare evil spirits away.
For the ancient Celtic
peoples, the New Year was celebrated on November 1st of every year. This date marked the end of Summer and the
beginning of Winter. This time of year was often associated with human death.
The Celts believed that on
the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living
and the dead became blurred(模糊的) as
the dead searched for the afterlife(来世).
Nowadays,children dress up in
costumes,wear masks,collect candy with pumpkin lanterns.

Halloween has a lot of
snacks, such as pumpkin pie, baked pumpkin seeds, popcorn, apple juice and corn
sugar snack. As Halloween approaches the harvest of apples, toffee apples as
festive food production method is the apple plug in bamboo, bamboo stick and
then put the apples on hand-held rotating syrup, and sometimes re-tainted fruit
Ren. Because it is the harvest season, good things, of course, no less, so cute
kids Trick or Treat will be a rewarding experience .

教学反思:在本次课程的学习过程中,学会课堂反应积极活跃,兴趣浓厚。学生不仅学习了语言,更了解到了语言背后的文化魅力。因此,在以后的教学过程中,也要多涉及一些学生们感兴趣的内容,不仅教语言,也要教文化,以提高学生对英语学习的兴趣。在本次课中,通过将西方文化中的万圣节与中国的中元节相比较,学生了解了中西方文化之间的异同,不仅拓宽了学生的视野,更为今后的跨文化交际提供了帮助。
